In December 2015, Virgin Trains East Coast began refurbishment of 44 sets of MkIV trains and 14 sets of HST trains, equating to over 500 cars. Working with Atlantic Design, Virgin Trains East Coast specified custom designs of Tessera Alignment FR for both First & Standard Class to give the vehicles a fresh look with an urban feel.

Charles Greenway, Director at Atlantic Design talks about the vision for VTEC’s new look and feel. “We wanted to fuse the existing aesthetic of the Virgin West Coast floor coverings with a simpler colour palette selected for the East Coast. The motion ‘blur’ design reflects the dynamic nature of the iconic East Coast route. We had specified Tessera FR on previous projects and therefore were very familiar with its design flexibility and service performance.”
